On Saturday 19th October Clare and Tim headed up to Coventry for an afternoon of celebration with many S.P.A.B members.
The event brings together the many different trades and areas who all work together with the one aim, of protecting and restoring historically important buildings. Tim and Clare have been supporting SPAB for many years, as millwrighting plays a vital role in protecting historic buildings and is considered an endangered trade.
Dan Cheetham and James Bull also attended the event as S.P.A.B fellows. Dan who now works with Suffolk Millwright full time, was a S.P.A.B fellow in 2023. During his fellowship Dan came to work with Suffolk Millwright to gain an insight into the working practices of Millwrighting. James Bull is the current 2024 S.P.A.B fellow and has also spent some time with Suffolk Millwright to understand the trade further.
It was also a pleasure to catch up with Hannah, Chloé, Jen and Sharika, the 2024 Scholars who visited us in June, to gain a greater understanding in Millwrighting and the problems we face when working on projects.
